Bait cages??? I have memories of a bait holder, some kind of tough nylon mesh cage like thing, used by anglers going to France, to prevent crayfish or other pests destroying boilies. Does anyone know what they are called and who stocks them? Its ofr a paste recipe I have which uses fresh berries, which falls apart too quickly.

Re: Bait cages??? Looks good, its for my bait, Matts Magic No 1. Ian saw it in action at Berkley lake where it worked unbelieveably well. Just had an idea, you could fish a large ball of crushed caster or similar this way too. An edge over other conventional baits will hopefully put a big beastie on the bank.

Re: Bait cages??? Found something on the tacklebox website, resembling a small soft rubber swim feeder, if I pack the magic in real tight, then it will ooze through the holes. http://www.tacklebox.co.uk/product_s...rch=bait+cages Here's a question, does anyone know how the fish will react to the unnatural texture of the mesh or rubberised cage? Hence the plan to over fill so there is mixture comming out.

Re: Bait cages??? i read a article a yew years ago about some old boy who uses his wifes old tights to put bait in he used it for all types of fishing from breadcrumb mashed sweetcorn mashed meat fish allsorts and he seemed to do very well but i do think it does depend on the colour of the water to whether or not a fish will feed by sight and if they cant see it the only way they will know is if they feel it with there mouths then it should be to late

Re: Bait cages??? A cheap way of making your own is to use the little bell things that you get for budgie cages

Re: Bait cages??? i reckon the arma mesh is the best bet it allows you to make the bait the size you want it. Fish wont feel it the same as the plastic ball. As some carp and barbel can pick it up and get rid with out getting hooked ive seen hemp and pellet balls made with mesh and used for carp and barbel
