Re: KD Carp Rig by Fox

Could you use this with a bottom bait?

I don't think it would be very good fishing in weed

Re: KD Carp Rig by Fox

it is for fishing with a pop up bait mate , but can be used with a bottom bait , the lead shot makes it balanced , not a new idea , it was out over 20 yrs ago,

it is no different really than having putty on the hook ,and can not be fished if you use a short hair

the smaller the shot ,the more it pops up one problem i have found with it and why i dont use it ,is the hair can double back over the hook

Oh ok cool critially balanced as they say. If I had 2 bits if pop up corn on do you want it so the shot is on the lake bed and the corn is popped up so say 1cm from bend of hook then shot in lake bed then 1cm gap up to the pop up bait

yes mate
or you could use a heavier wired hook , or forget the lead shot and balance by putting lead/solder wire into the corn until its balanced

Re: KD Carp Rig by Fox

Would you ever want to pop it higher?

I suppose any higher and the bait would be to far away from the hook! Would you only use this on a very clear bottom?

Instead of using a split shot could you for example have a trimmed down bottom bait bolie and a bit of pop up corn? So it's sinks slowly.
So the bolie would in effect be the split shot holding it to the bottom and the pop up corn would allow it to waft naturally.

I don't really like doing stuff like that as when would a bit of corn ever land perfectly in top of a boile. I know it catches just I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving rods out for a long period like it

i leave my rods out for up to 48 hrs mate .
and the pop up corn would allow it to waft naturally,
thats called a wafter , catches loads of fish

Kind of like a snowman as the call it again I know catches but think it's weird as wheb baits land like that in the lake.
Just confidence I guess.
