48hrs alderwood

(oh crap wrong forum! could you move mods please?)

Just got back from a 48hr sesh at the lake
absolutly shattered, but got my can of cider and thought id kill some time will
she "who must be obeyed" watches the Xfactor .
nice little session all in all, Picked up what seems like tones of gear thursday
arfternoon and headed out to a nice crisp autumn day full of hope (always amazes me how much kit you amass for long ish sessions and looks like mountains stacked in the hall but not much when its in place on the bank).
anyway get to the lake and find my self a nice spot with a gentle breeze blowing into it, plan of attack pretty simple, find out how the fish ar dealing with the drop in temp arfter the first frost, first rod using a fail safe for this lake, being hair rigged halibut pellet/ sweetcorn cocktail, pva of pellet sweetcorn and hemp, good few pulted pouchfuls of 8mm pellet over the top
fished on the plateau in the centre of the lake, chuck and chance it stuff no rocket science ther, but did employ a nice little method of putting a bit of old used high viz pop up in the pva bag, bag melts, pop up pops up! right over the bait giving me a marker to scatter my pellet over.
Second rod was banking on the the fish not being up for it and going for a curiosity take on a patrol route, Cell and high viz 15mm boillies snowman fished on a 360 with tiny pva of crushed Cell, this was fished hard to the island in the centre that has a trough running round it (i say trough but i think thers only a 2ft diffrence but it could make all the diffrence)
had a selection of high viz pop ups to fish this with, creamy white chocolate, pineapple juice and tuitty all by mainline (love mainline baits at the mo).
anyway daylight was a fat zero not even a knock, but as soon as night fell the pellet chuck and chance rod went ballistic with take arfter take, think i had 13 fish over a few hours with non of the fish being under 8lb and the biggest being somthing in the region of 15lb, hectic action and need for food
and beer had me tucked up in the bivvy by 12, leaving the single high viz rod next to the island, nice few beers and social with the only other fellah that decided to fish through. big full moon, nice warm night, lovely.
(incidently this chap was perch fishing and had some lunkers one being over
3lb all cought arfter dark on the waggler and prawn bait, awsome fishing)
Dragged myself out of the pit just arfter dawn the following day with its crisp bright sunlight proved again fruitless, tho did pick up 2 low double commons on the high viz snowman which were very welcome, which kind of proves to me when the fish ar off the food they can still be tripped up!
again nightfall everyone gose home and the fish ar bang on the grub!
picking fish up on both rods now, to the point were im having to reel both rods in just to give me a 20min breather, get my self together (bait up, tie bags have a smoke ect) a few tiddlers of 3-4lb but again most around the 10,14lb mark and strangly mostly commons (nice long fish) the snowman picking up the bigger fish to 18lb.
Last night so decide to fish through and have a break at 12 for a quick supper.
then BOOM! gusts of big fast wind came out of nowhere, just out of the blue.
Never been out in that sort of storm, the wind was smashing my beloved jrc defender too bits, got out and got the rods in and retreated back to the bivvy with my tail between my legs! holding onto the twinskin for dearlife and listening as branches and sticks hit the outside, arfter a bit of cowering i shifted the bedchair round to pin down the the front which was taking the brunt, and tried for some fitful sleep, waking up everytime i heard the bivvy front crash. long story short 4 in the morning was armageddon for the bivvy as the twinskin went for a fly, and then the front went! collapsing the lot around me lol. got the twin rolled up and stowed under a bush, anything fragile stashed in it, and got the pramhood set up behind aload of bushes (all done in a pair of shorts, socks, failling headlamp and hacking rain!
finally got on the bed, wet sleeping bag and rapped in a brit army basha (these things ar great) and got some sleep!
today was spent walking round the lake packing up my scattered kit from bushes and the lake lol!
weird tho i look back and feel i had a great time in retrospect, and me thinking i was going to die and stringing foul words together that would make gordon ramsey wince just feels like a blip!
