| I'd like to start by thanking Fishy Paul for organising this years Forum trip to France. 10 of us went to Bluewater Lakes, several on our second or third trip. I think this speaks volumes for the standard of the fishery that's managed by an English couple Jim & Jan Clavin. As in previous years, the fishing was supurb & topped off each day with some excellent & very large meals cooked by Jan. A few views of the lake..... ![]() ![]() The picnic swim where Bananna Steve & I Bivvied up.... ![]() We had a hard act to follow. Team Korda had been there the week before & had caught somewhere in the region of 135 fish including a 62lb Carp & a 120lb Catfish. Due to the amount of bait they had used we were somewhat concerned as to how the lake woud fish. In the event we needent have worried as between us we had 71 carp up to 54lb & a 2lb Catfish... Various baits were tried, but Matrix boilies still seemed most popular with the fish. However the fish were fairly localised. Carper Chris, Fishypaul, Devon Dave, Rodger & myself were into fish almost immediately, but others struggled. Steve & I fished side by side using similar tactics & baits. I hooked & landed nine fish. Steve hooked three & landed one. There was no apparent reason for this as fish were showing all over the lake. I really felt for Steve as he worked really hard, constantly changing rigs & bait. It was a similar story for Cabby Chris & Rodger who also fished together. In their case it was Rodger who was on the fish. Most of the fish were caught at Distance over a gravel bar in the middle of the lake. The only practical was to get bait out there was using a bait boat borrowed from Lman (Cheers mate ) Steve did have a hairy moment when he thought he'd lost control of the boat, then realised he was pushing the button to open the bait hopper in stead of the steering lever.... ![]() ![]() I ended the week with nine fish weighing between 22lb & 51.5lb including some fin perfect commons... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My 51.5lb new PB.... Caught in the midst of a raging thunderstorm... ![]() Steves Fish ![]() As on my previous visit, there was plenty of wildlife to watch, although I did'nt see any coypu this time.... ![]() ![]() Apart from a couple of nightime thunderstorms, the weather was great, & although a few fish did disturb me I had a thoroughly chilled out week (With the help of a little excellent French Cider... ![]() ![]() __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |
