Re: An idiot goes Carp fishing for the first time

Cheers mate.

Been watching a lot of fishing programmes so i've got a handle on some of the stuff i need to buy.
I cant beleive how long those guys keep the fish out of the water sometimes, all the fish i caught in France were returned to the water in around a minute flat because i was so worried about them suffocating in air, they were still flapping when i slid them back in and they shot off immidiately, not like the ones you see on the TV that need coaxing back to life before swimming away. I've also seen them saying "There he is swimming away" when the fish obviously hasnt as you can still see it "not swimming away at all". I know these guys have got the filming of all this to do, but i do feel sorry for some of the fish

Re: An idiot goes Carp fishing for the first time

its all good mate, i still read my mags and watch the odd carp program, can always
manage to pick up some simple bit or bob that makes my time on the bank a bit more
streamlined, bit more fluid!
dont complicate stuff, we carp anglers seem to love making it all seem rocket science
just keep it all safe and strong,
best fall back rig i have is 6ins of braid to a num 12hook with a trout pellet glued to the shank
simples, more than capable of dealing with the fish you on. nailed in the bottom lip everytime
oh P.V.A bags , look into this it will up your catch rate.

[quote=geffski;210679 oh P.V.A bags , look into this it will up your catch rate.[/QUOTE]

To tell the truth, if i caught one fish in a day (of any size or species) i would go home happy. Even when i dont catch owt, i still go home contented bacause i've spent the day in quiet solitude (well most of it) with a few beers and a smoke.
PVA bags look a bit over the top for me, if i was fishing regularly i really can see the point, but leaving the PVA for a long time unused would probably have an effect on the perfomance of it, especially when i have no way of controlling the temperature and humidity of the place where it is being stored.
I've just bought a cataput so i should be able to get the boilies out to where my bait is. Simple and reliable.

Lovely!

pva mate is easy to look arfter got a big roll nocking around in the tackle bag been ther yonks in all
weathers, direct contact with water is your only worry,
for your fishing i couldnt recomend it more, golfball size mesh bag on the hook then pult out a few
pouchfuls of watever over the top its killer mate. but hey if what your doing works!
method might not be a bad idea tho, cheap easy way to deliver a tight little bit of attraction.
only thing that concerns me tho YOU DONT WANA UP YOUR CATCH RATE?? lol you ar a rare species indeed!

Thanks for the advice about the PVA, i'll have a think about it, how much (cost) are we looking at for a small ammount?

What you have to bear in mind is that the three fish you see in the pics wiegh more than all the fish i've ever caught put together.

Re: An idiot goes Carp fishing for the first time

good init! blown away by this trip a month ago to france, only went to get my pb and had a 54lb mofo
30,s felt like tiddlers! if im honest tho you get a more exciting scrap off a 18lb brit common than you do
a french 40! its just the shear size off em out ther that freaks you out! that and they can cover 20m of lake
left to right in a swish of the tail! your putting on side strain like its heading for snags and 2 turns latter its out in the middle kiting the other way! great stuff
