week carp fishing letourneau

what an amazing week!
picked up from limoges airport last saturday, beutiful weather
get to the lake (or should i say 3 lakes tho only fished 1)
absolutly gobsmacked, sat and had a beer taking it all in and noticed
fish crashing in the shallow end of the lake so decided to set up shop ther.
shown to a nice 2 man bivvy already set up, and as i had opted for the tackle hire package i was handed 3 good quality nash rods and a handful of bank sticks, opted to use just 2 rods as the swim was pretty tight and loaded the 3rd rod with my marker reel and float set up, and had a plumb around! found the shallow end to my left about 3ft/4ft deep with patches of chod (loads of tree debry with some very inviting gravel patches) and to my right the beginings of the lakes basin dropping off to maybe 9ft,!
set one rod up on a KD rig with critical balanced CELL with half a mainline
hi vis pinapple pop up! and that went into the shallow end, followed by a couple of handful of cell. The other rod was cast into the basin this was a straight up combi rig with a 22mm tuityfruity this was followed with maybe 30 more tuitys! backleaded up and waited it out!
first night very quiet apart from a few line bites that had my nerves janggling!
Then about 12.30 the following day having a few stubbys in the swim with the bailiff (dan an absolute top geezer) i got a drop back on the right hand rod followed by a screaming one toner!! a short and very nerve racking fight later dan was in the drink netting my first fish and PB, a 40.8lb mirror.
anyway i wont bang on forever as i know you guys ar short of time and i could right a yellow pages on all this! but the week was amazing.
over all i cought (i wont bore you with the 0Z as thats just splitting hairs)
23lb, 25lb, 27lb, 34lb, 39lb, 40lb, 47lb, and a whacking 54lb!
ther ar a couple of 60,s in the lake but by next year ther will be quit a few more i imagine. If i can do it anyone can! and to think i was worried about being outa my league. Tho the couple also fishing the lake had 26 fish out between them with a load of 40,s, (tho i got the biggest )
first time fishing france or just want to bag up have a look here!
perfect place for a forum meet!

Re: week carp fishing letourneau

most were mirrors mate one or 2 commons tho ther plenty in ther plus a good few that ar
nearly hitting the 50lb mark (imagine the scrap on a 50lb common)
Lake 2 is the unknown quantity as far as commons go, the other fellah fished it for
a day and dropped a few fish but the ones he had out were all commons biggest
26lb if i remember and get this most had the curtain in the mouth! virgin fish!

Re: week carp fishing letourneau

already planning my next trip! i learnt loads about presentation also just dealing with fish that big!
both in and out the water it aint for the faint hearted is it! that 50 gave me a slap round the head that left my ears ringing lol! "you just gota body slam em" (dan the bailiff) big shock to the system my brit pb is 28lb!
a man of your calibre could slay the place!
dan is a top bloke and very eager to help out your whim is his command id say!
when i got that first fish he said it had made his day and i honestly beleive him,
place is alive with wildlife, never a dull moment with lizards, skinks, king fishers, buzzards ect
oh and a APACHE gunship that screamed over the lake 300ft up at 2am, that certainly added
a bit of excitment!
