Smile Bluewater April 10 Report

Hi all,

I've just got back from Bluewater and thought i'd write a quick report for you.

Firstly i would like to thank both Jim & Jan for another great week. The fishing was a bit slow after the winter we have just had has knocked back the start

of the season. The weather was still cold and there was frost on the groung through the night.

There was 7 anglers fishing and we caught 21 fish. I caught 6 and lost 2.

Jim & Jan have done a lot of work over the winter to the lake and the pegs. They have turned single pegs into doubles and the double pegs and made them a lot

bigger. The only peg they haven't done is the first peg on the right from the lodge. The point has had all the trees cut down and the back extended and so

has the heli-pad.

They have also block paved outside the front of the lodge and created a patio area benches and umbrella's because of this Jan has stopped people driving

there car down to the point which means you'll have to hump your gear down there...

It knackered me out on sat

I was lucky enough to draw number 1 from the peg draw and i decided to to fish the point. The reason for this was 9 out of the 15 fish caught the week before

came from the point and when i arrived on the Saturday i thought it was going to be a hot week and which would get more fish moving around the point.

Even though we had a new moon on the Wednesday. We had a very cold, strong North Eastly wind blowing all week. As i found out this knocked the fishing off

from Monday to Thursday. On Thursday it started to warm up again.. On the sat the temp of the water was 11 degrees by the Monday it had fallen to 9 degrees

this with the strong wind knocked the fishing off for me.

Here is a picture of the new and improved 'Point'.If you have a look at my report from June last year you can see the difference.

I set my stall out fishing 1 rod straight in front of me and the other 3 to the side i used the same places as last June. I fished tight to the margins using

markers left by previous anglers

My set up was
15lb mainline
Semi-fixed rig with lead clip
Snowman rig Comprised of short 6 inch 20lb gravel braid hooklink Size 6 korda widegape
18mm Mainline Cell boillie topped with illuminous corn.

Baiting,

I bought a bucket of parti mix off Jim and added my usual tuna, Vitalin, Chilli, Corn, Hemp and crushed boilies and made 3 x 15 kg buckets of carpy mix to put out with my boat..

I threw approx half a kilo of boilies to each rod each day and i used a scoop of mix with my hookbait in the boat.

This worked for the first 3 days until the weather got worse and the fishing stopped.. I still kept trickling the bait in all week and on thursday i switched to my yellow home made titan pop-up boilies.. Which started working great..

Here are a few pics of the fish i caught. I even managed to catch the Sturgeon Twice... Ist time i coudn't land it as it was teathered upto a tree branch which he was pilling round.. As i was trying to clear the branch the line snapped... My mate Jamie the next night caught him and we removed 3 teathers and after that you could see him jumping around the lake.. I manged to land him the day after

32lb

27lb

28lb

58lb

24lb

26lb

Petrol Prices.

On the Auto-rote the diesel price was 1.25 euros to the litre.. The Champion Supermarket in Brienne was 1.15 euro's..

I have found another bigger and better supermarket by the last pay station.its 15 mins from Bluewater. Its a huge Carrefour 24 hour supermarket... They even sell fishing tackle.. The diesel price was 1.14 euro's

And to finish off here's Barnie
