blue water 2009, the report

we had a great week in france again,it was a trifle difficult at times , the weather was hot apart from the usual thunderstorm
some of the sunrises were spectacular

when we arrived at the lake and introduced ourselves to the other anglers we were sharing with we quickly found out one was on the forum, tomo74(neil)
from warrington , so it was a mini forum meet after all,

neil fished with his other half gill on the end of the point, chris and me fished where me and dave did last year just up from the lodge,

i wont bore you with a great big long report about who caught what when and where,i'm sure chris and neil will be along with their stories sooner or later,

they both did very well,i however struggled a little, the fish seemed to frequent the shallower water further up the lake,i was not too depondant as it was a cat i was after,

i broke my duck for the week on tuesday morning with a superbly conditioned fish of 31 1/2 lb,

around this time chris caught a monster catfish of 68lb,during the landing i somehow managed to fall in the drink

my turn came that night,at 0400 i had a fast take and it was obvious straight away that this was a cat when it took 50 yards of line straight away,
this fish never knew when to give up and he was eventually expertly landed by neil ( thanks mate ) ,i hooked the fish in darkness and landed it in daylight at 0530, a fish on for 90 minutes , wow ! what a scrap,
it turned the scales at 63lb and is a fish of a lifetime for me,

i was on cloud nine and really wasnt bothered if i fished again for the week,
i did after a while get back to fishing,it was very slow going though and only managed 2 bites during the rest of the week,
these were carp of 23lb and 28lb,
friday was an awkward day with a large thunderstorm in the afternoon which bought torrential rain for an hour or two ,it didnt really stop raining much before midnight,by then all of us and our gear were totally soaked through
home time came round all too quickly and the soggy anglers all departed with big smiles on our faces,we had all landed PB'swhat more can you ask for,

thank you to chris , neil and gill for making the week special

and the biggest thank you to jim and jan of blue water , the food is first class, the service is first class and above all the fishery is first class

Well done Paul & Chris.. Sounds like a cracking week!

An hour and a half though! I've had whole sessions shorter than that! Still, there's a hell of a ugly brute in the photo. Nice one mate.

Question Re: blue water 2009, the report

Have they stocked some more Sturgeon Paul? I noticed from the reports that a 50lb fish was caught recently.
