Smile ValDore 2009 trip

Hi

got back from Valdore in france the other week....here is a quick report

A pretty looking set of 5 gravel pits situated in a valley about 90 minutes drive from calais

with the whole complex fishing very slow in previous weeks we didnt expect great hauls of fish and we wasn't to be disappointed

Despite trying various baits, rigs and techniques we only managed 5 carp all week, with one of our crew taking a lovely mirror of 32lbs,and with the carp spawning on and off we had to target another species....the sturgeon!

now these fish really know how to fight...although very tricky to hook,(we missed loads of runs/pick ups),once hooked they scrap all the way to the bank, tail walking, leaping straight up out of the water like bloody marlin! great fun

most of the fish came to hair rigged pellet over a bed of pellet/hemp/boilie chops and I landed 9 fish to just over 18lbs...great sport!

we made the most of a hard week by targeting those sturgeon, and along with good company one or a few bottles of wine we had a good trip

Re: ValDore 2009 trip

yes they sure do look weird...prehistoric!,they are very fusy feeders, playing with the bait before finally streaming off with it....very frustrating!!!,but awesome powerful fighters...I would love to catch a real big one!
