That looks a good venue, I've just today booked a week on the 29th August 2009 at this place http://http://www.scarper-carper.co.uk/ It was netted on friday and two and a half thousand tons of fish were recorded!! the average size is knocking 30 pound with a few cats to 50 odd pound! I'm counting the days already!

Re: anyone thinking of fishing france in 2009

Guys Guys Guys, and of course you girls.

Why wase your time in France after a few elusive 50lb Carp. Come and fish in Spain in winter. Far better weather!

We do get bothered by the odd 30 or 40lb Carp when we are Catfishing but normally we Pick up 80Lb plus Cats.
60lb Carp are not rare.
Spain is one of the worst countries for advertising it's massive Carp fishing. They just assume everyone wants to catch Cats.

It is cheaper to reach and fish than France.

Let me know if you are interested as I know all the top guides.

Re: anyone thinking of fishing france in 2009

The Ebro is of course the most widely publicized water in Spain. However there are many many others that have never been mentioned in the fishing magazines.
Yes the Ebro is the Mecca for Catfish, but it also one of the greatest Carp fisheries in the World. Never mind these pot bellied pigs in the French Ponds. The Carp in the Spanish rivers are big. No not just big but very big, and they are wild and streamlined and very very powerful.

The Cat and Carp fishing on the Ebro is fantastic, but you can also catch Pike to 50lb and Zander to 30lb. It is not uncommon to Catch 80lb kittens on Rapalas whislt fishing for Zander.

One of the best unknown area in Spain is Extremadura, where the Carp grow big and the Barbel are monsters.
We have a Barbel over here called the Comiza Barbel. I have taken tours to target these fish and ended up with Barbel over 40lb. Can you imagine the power of a Barbel that big??

Tench to 17lb and 35lb plus Pike. Spain is a hidden Gem in the angling world.

I am currently making a TV series based on fishing in Spain. It will be broadcast on Sky in early Summer. I think it will open many peoples eyes to the massive potential of fishing in Spain.
