Re: All systems go for France 2008

Dave

A french fishing trip is really an excuse to be a tackle tart for a year as you are buying for the trip of a lifetime ( that we will probably do EVERY year afterwards).

go out and start buying the tackle you only have 422 days to get it!!

Re: All systems go for France 2008

Carp fishing in France is no different ,there are just more of them and they are a bit bigger .. i never use line heavier than15lb,rods of a 2.75 are fine , you may need bigger if you need to do a long chuck. Bait wise i use a fish type boilie .IE squid .crab etc i normally buy my pellets .maize in France.
Hope this helps and happy hunting

Re: All systems go for France 2008

Looking forward to it chaps Sadly, I've not done much fishing this year because of work, but this gives me something to look forward to in 2008. I won't need new gear, mine is still new from hardly being used!

Re: All systems go for France 2008

Rob

I hope that we can arrange a couple of test run meetings where we can have a get together and do some fishing as a warm up to this trip. Start thinking of some venues that most of us could reach for a few days fishing.

You need to test all that gear and find out what other toys you need.

I will be having a try out of kit a tober on the forum meet there in September, I quite fancied a trip to Decoy lakes as I have heard some good reports of that, and then again I would like to give Bury Hill a go as we hear all the reports about it.

Mike

Re: All systems go for France 2008

Weekends are not the best time to do a couple of days on a lake because everyone else is there. I would have to book leave for a mid weeker but prefer to tag it onto a weekend, then those that can't make the weekend can do the other days.

Yes this trip is not only an excuse to buy shiney new tackle, but also means of getting fishing trips on the story that it is "preparation" for the big trip.
