Re: spawning

Spawning times - May-July, 16-22oC, multiple spawning
with females laying around 100,000 - 200,000 eggs per kg of body weight

hope this helps

Re: spawning

No disrespect to Kev, there are no set months involved in spawning. Generally when the water temp reaches approximatley 60 degrees celcius then the carp heads for the shallower areas to spawn. This
can occur as much as 2-3 times a year.

Re: spawning

not controdicting anyone but i thought i read somewhere that the water temp needs to be between 20-22c for 3 weeks to condition the eggs before the carp will spawn?

is that not true? they have started to spawn where i fish too and so im going to save some money and stay away for a couple of weeks to let it all settle down again

Re: spawning

hi carpnut

no disrespect but i think you are wrong
i think 60 degrees celcius in a bit hot don,t you
although there is no set month these are the most common months for spawning to occur

i was allways under the impression devon dave it was three day on the trot over 16c but i might be wrong ,

Re: spawning

sorry for causing all this bother, as you can see I live in the north east of england the temprature was about 18c = 64f for about 4 days in a row the fish was in the shallows and was not interested in any bait, so I took it they were spawning. Thanks for your help
