Am i poaching?

Well there's this gravel pit very close to where i live and its around 60 acres big and contains maybe 40 carp if that, they range from mid doubles to mid thirties. The problem being Hansons aggregates own the lake and there are no signs to say that you cannot fish it. Do i just take a chance and fish it?.

Hi Carpnut,

All that can happen is that they ask you to leave, there are no laws that cover trespassers in this country. You are not stealing anything, so they cannot prosecute you for theft.

Cheers

Re: Am i poaching?

you don,t go poaching

its called guesting now not saying that i would actually know what goes on or how you would go about guesting

i would just say if its a working gravel pit (truck and heavy machinery still there ) then there might be a problem with health and saftey but if not just ask them to allow you to fish it if no joy guest it and if you let me know where it is in a pm i,ll guest it

Re: Am i poaching?

cheers, they stopped extraction years ago, it was never stocked they were either transferred or entered during the floods some years ago. There's also big pike in there too. I dont mind saying where it is as the more the merrier. Leave the A45 atGt Doddington, turn left towards Gt Doddington, then 1st right towards Wollaston, past the nature reserve then its a left turn down a lane towards the river and its the last pit on the right with a few islands on it. But remember follow the wind, cause the fish do!

Re: Am i poaching?

Leave wollaston towards the tip ie, straight over at the roundabout on the a509 and turn right about 1/2 mile on the right.
