Re: help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'll go for a simple way of catching, it could be down to you using too heavy gear.

Float fishing:

Match rod, small reel loaded with 6lb-8lb line (go to ten or twelve lb if the fish are really big, or there's snags) Use a small waggler fished on the bottom (plumb the depth first) and use a size twelve hook (this also depends on bait size)
On a size twelve hook you could get a worm, sweetcorn, luncheon meat, small boilies, cat food, maggots etc.. with no problem.

Cast to any obvious features (overhanging bushes, reeds, lily pads..) and perhaps put in a handful of pellets/hemp to get them rooting around.

Leger:

Carp rod, bigger reel (baitrunner prefereable as a lot easier than slackening off clutch) loaded with ten lb line+ (depending on size of weight you're casting out as well as fish size, snags etc..

The easiest rig is use a 2.5oz in-line lead, then you're rig (around 6-8 inches)

Use a boilie, luncheon meat, maggots, worm etc.. and then perhaps add a PVA bag filled with particles and cast out to features again.

If you look in the Fishing Tips and Rigs forum there's lots of help on hair rigs, plumbing the depth etc..

Hope this has helped a bit

Re: help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Really recommend the following of you're just starting out:
Ponwood Fisheries - Maidenhead (nr White Waltham airfield)
Twynersh Fisheries - Thorpe Park.

Both sites have lakes of different levels of complexity. I started fishing these lakes in November last year after a 10 year lay off from fishing. I got lots of good advice and coaching from various unknowns happy to discuss "stuff."

Good fishing..

Re: help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

one thing nobody said (or i didnt see) ask the local guys which flavour boilie is producing best as from time to time it changes.. with weather conditions ect.. at my local at the moment hawian pineapple are absolute killers.. however 12 months ago they werent worth wasting the money on and nash bling boilies were doing the trick.. its always worth asking someone for tips on baits especially if there catching and your not!

one bait that should never be underestimated is good old bread flake... i dont agree with a bread punch a making small balls of bread (simply because its never worked for me).. but crumble loads of bread up into breadcrumb.. squeeze into a largish ball.. and drop a couple of those in (makes a big splash but really does work!) then pull off a nice piece of bread and pinch it around the hook.. try not to over pinch it (my personal view is the fish prefer it as natural as possible).. however if you under pinch it then it will float! bare that in mind!.. then float fish the bottom with it.. any fish in the area shouldnt refuse bread..if they do then they are fussy beggars and find a new lake to fish lol!
