braided line

hi guys ,at the moment im using mono line but i`ve noticed alot of carp anglers are using braided line.1)is there any advantage to using it .2) is it very expensive .3)i`ve been told you can badly cut your fingers trying in slow the braid down on casting?is this true .4)would you recommend any type or breaking strain.
hope you can show me the light,one very confused angler !!!!!!

braid is finer, casts further, and you feel every move,twist turn, but is more expensive
there have been several threads on here re braid, i have on spinning reel love it

I've recently put it on a spare spool of 1 of my reels and tried it the other day. Enjoyed playing fish on it as you could feel every move, easier to 'strike' as you don't need too! Just lift into the fish. Also could cast further. Must admit it did tangle round the rod tip more often than mono (is that normal or just me)

You can buy it cheap from here and it's the stuff I use.

As for breaking strain I use the 14.3lb stuff

i use braid for all my fishing it is much better then mono in my opinion, but i do suggest using a mono leader when carp fishing as braid can cut the carps mouth .
carp are a very sensative fish and any damage can cause them to die so better safe then sorry

A bit of what I've heard...Dont go for a higher braid weight rating than your rod or reel, you can pull the guts apart and/or break your rod. If you use 100# line on 25# gear because the diameter is similar to mono...you see where things can go south. Good luck & good fishing.
