| Due too a request (well kind of) I'm going too give brief descriptions of the carp species. 1. Mirror Carp: The mirror carp is the most common carp, and is caught more regularly than others. They tend too be the biggest of the carp species too, with all the records being mirrors. They have quite big scales, and they can either have a lot or very little on there body. ![]() 2. Common Carp: The common carp are not as common as you may think. The common in their name refers too their scales. Their whole body is full with scales, and they are smaller than mirror carp scales: ![]() 3. Ghost Carp: Ghost Carp can either have mirror scales, or common scales. They tend too have a yellowish tale, and the way too recognise them is they have a black eye: ![]() 4. Leather Carp: The leather carp has no scales. ![]() 5. Crucian Carp: The crucian carp is a lot smaller than the other carp species. They have common scales, and are generally gold in colour, with red fins. 6. Grass Carp: The grass carp are a much rarer specie of the fish. They are a lot longer, and are generally grey in colour. They have strange eyes, and look very much like chub. They rarely fight, until they're out of the water. I've never caught 1, but have borrowed a picture off a mate: ![]() 7. Linear Carp: Linear carp have mirror scales, but they run along the middle of the body in a straight line: ![]() 8. Fully Scaled Mirror Carp: Just like mirror carp, except the scales are everywhere. Easy too tell apart from a common carp, as the scales are so much bigger. ![]() 9. Koi Carp: Mainly found in people's ponds/tanks, but are in some lakes. A lovely looking fish with lots of different markings, and can vary so much. They mainly have common scales. ![]() Hope this has helped a few people __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º> Last edited by Norfolkboy; 08-09-2005 at 09:18 AM. |
