Wink "All carp look the same"...No they don't!

A very common saying with people who aren't on the dark side, and I will show 5 pictures of carp..who don't all look the same

Now I await the 1st post..."They all look the same too me"

Re: "All carp look the same"...No they don't!

Ok, let me be the first. I blatently havent got a clue on the different carp species, but they just look like carp with more scales, less scales, no scales, scales in lines etc.

the only one that does look like a different specie is the crucian carp (i think)

if i ever do go to the darkside and catch a carp, thats all i will refer it to be, a carp

Re: "All carp look the same"...No they don't!

I see where you're coming from Luke. If someone is walking round a lake and asking what we've caught, I won't say 2 mirror carp, and a common carp or whatever, I will just say 3 carp.

Re: "All carp look the same"...No they don't!

1st picture is a Linear Carp
2nd is a Crucian Carp
3rd is a Mirror Carp
4th is nearly a Fully Scaled Mirror, but is a Mirror Carp
5th is a Mirror Carp too.

Here is a Common Carp:

And here is a Ghost Carp:

Re: "All carp look the same"...No they don't!

Would you put a name next to the pictures, so for my reference i could know what each carp specie is, and if possible could you give a brief description of what each carp should look like??

i think it might clear it up for the likes of me

Re: "All carp look the same"...No they don't!

how can it be a fully scaled carp?! it has big gaps in scales
i stick by the fact that most capr look the same!
a common and a crucian are different, so are leathers and mirrors, ghost carps are like common carp, and all the different types of mirror are still just mirror carp with scales in different places
