Buying a Carp Rod

Hi All,

I would like to buy myself a carp rod. Having scoured the various websites, it's obvious that there is a lot of choice at very varied prices. So I've decided to go for a mid-range priced rod, unless anyone can advise better. The question is, can anyone give me thoughts and ideas on possible rods in this range please? I realise that this is a very personal thing, but would appreciate any advice you could give.

Regards,

Mark

Re: Buying a Carp Rod

Hi Mark,
welcome to the forum, as you are probably aware, there are 3 shops relatively local to you, Harefield tackle, Judds at Hillingdon, and Hounslow tackle which now have thier shop at the farm site in Harlington.High street
All of them have experienced carp anglers in the shops.
Harlington are purely a carp tackle outlet.

hope this helps

Re: Buying a Carp Rod

ok bud depends realy on the waters you want to fish and the methods you want to use if your using a pva bag you need at least a 3lb test, or general carping a 2 1/2 should do .if your fishing in the margins you need a nice soft action and for floater fishing ,,,for distance you need somthing with a good line pick up i use 2 3/4 test rods with a nice through action and have a couple of 3lb for bag work at distance and method ,,dont put a pva bag pluss a 2oz lead on a 21/2 pound test rod it will eventualy snap due to overloading my mate did it last year ,,,,have a look what the lads are using on your local water i find with carping best to go out with some 1 who knows ,,that way youl save mony,, i think these are ok to start but have a look the chub snooper range the daiwa d fish and the jrc defender and fox warrior all good priced rods if you can get the chubb outcasts second hand they are great built on greys blanks

Re: Buying a Carp Rod

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies, all most helpful. Has anybody had any experience of the Daiwa Longbow DF?

Regards,

Mark
