Carp with a tuma

I caught this F1 Carp a few weeks ago which seemed to have what must of been a huge tuma in it's stomach. It looked like it was carrying a huge amount of spawn.

Re: Carp with a tuma

It literally was nearly busting, i've caught fish full of spawn not that big. Felt really strange putting it back but didn't know what effects the fish was feeling. It obviously wasn't my place to kill the fish as it was a commercial fishery.
If it was a tape worm, would the worm die with the host or would it find another host.

Re: Carp with a tuma

Yeah I believe their a mix of Common carp and Crucian carp. They look similar to a Common carp but with no barbules.

Re: Carp with a tuma

we had a case of worm in one of our waters, i was informed that its untreatable, the worm can be transferred to humans, so be careful of what you do, always wash well after handleing such infections, our lake was drained, all stocks culled, then a deep clay layer cap to seal off any trace off old water levels, then thick plastic membrane laid over the clay, before they where allowed to restock, took a while to re-establish the water.
