| Re: fishing heavy silt? Hi Steve, If I'm fishing a heavily silted lake bed I would normally use a soft hook length about 10" this allows the lead to burry into the silt on cast and the soft hook link will still lay flat to the lake bed. Never use a stiff hook link as they will stick out of the lake bed at an unusual angle. you could try a chod ring moving the bead closest to the lead up the lead core approx 10" using a pop up. Also when over silt if you are using bottom baits be aware that the bait will darken over time and take a rotting smell. Glugged hook baits or bright pop ups would be my preferred choice. Hope this helps tj |
