Using the line clip or not ?

Hey all,

Just finished watching korda's volume 4 carp dvd and they have said many times about using the line clip to hit your spot time and time again. Now it sounds great but what happens when you get a run .. as the fish cant take any line ... the same if you catch a large fish and it trys to make a run away from you ... does anyone have any surggestions?

Re: Using the line clip or not ?

I have been thinking about this as well. First I need to be able to cast in the same general direction at least twice a day but I was wondering: if the line is clipped, doesn't it stop with a judder and the weights/rig bounce back on you?

Also, if you are clipped, mark it and then catch a fish, how do you find and clip at your mark again. Do you cast out then reel it in to the marker (no good with a pva bag as it will melt)?

Thanks and sorry for the noddy questions.

Re: Using the line clip or not ?

you'd have to feather the line before it hits it mark, otherwise it's likely to crack off. personally i don't use a line clip for this reason.

Re: Using the line clip or not ?

i dont use line clip like me wen carp fishing at distance i use a 4 turn knot i think its called on the line made with flouro yellow leave the tags couple of centimeters long so they pass rings ok if you go over you can wind it back a bit , i use bottom ring as marker . i use it wen im teaching some 1 fly fishing so the right amount of line is out to load rod and they can feel the knot instead of having to look for a mark ,,other than that get a marker rod
