Plastic Bits in Groundbait

I bought some Dynamite Baits Brown Crumb groundbait for a day of fishing this weekend. However when making up my mix at my peg, I found there was loads of tiny bits of plastic, foil, paper etc. There seemed to be too many for this to be a mistake, has anyone else had this problem? I'm not sure if this is just the company bulking up there groundbait with basically crap. I thought to myself bailiffs work hard to maintain the water quality and keep their lakes clean of litter an companies are actually selling this, neither can it be good for the fish. I must add though that i've bought several other products from Dynamite baits in the past and they have always been good quality.

Re: Plastic Bits in Groundbait

yeah, i bought dynamites method mix last week and also found small strips of foil. it took ages to pick them all out. i thought it might have been just my bag but maybe they do put it in as an attractor, not good for the lake or the fish,as you say.

Re: Plastic Bits in Groundbait

I didn't think of it being a possible attractor, surely there are better (environmentally friendly) things to use?!

Re: Plastic Bits in Groundbait

I always find plastic bits in the dynamite baits halibut ground bait and recently in a bag of sonu baits barbel groundbait. At first I thought it may have been the sacks that the fish meal comes in thrown into the blend by idle employees but yesterday I found what looked to be a part of a mars bar wrapper ?? All I can think of is that the fish the fish meal is made from had been eating these bits of plastic that litter the ocean

Re: Plastic Bits in Groundbait

But surely these companies sift the groundmix before it is packaged. I really do beleive the companies are adding crap to fill out the bag. After picking out loads of the rubbish the mix did actually work a treat.

Thumbs down Re: Plastic Bits in Groundbait

I bought a 5kg bag of Lidl Barbecue charcoal briquettes a couple of weeks back & the briquettes appeared to be bulked up with a few handfulls of gravel

Re: Plastic Bits in Groundbait

Surely these companies aren't purposely trying to snide rubbish in to their bags to fill them out a bit. Especially in breadcrumb, how much does that cost??

I'm actually sitting next to a 900g bag of Dynamite Baits XL Pure White Breadcrumb. I haven't opened it cos it's not mine but there doesn't appear to be any plastic in it. A few tiny black bits but I'm pretty sure their seeds.

Also, just had thought. I'm guessing now that the breadcrumb comes from a large bread supplier and would usually be waste and thrown away?

That would account for the bits of plastic, but not gravel in charcoal...

It seems to be in the fish meal products nt plain crumb. I dont think they would use it to bulk it out because as you say the crumb is cheap as . I think its probaby from the fish the use for the meal which has pprobably been made abroad in some shi hole Factory

Re: Plastic Bits in Groundbait

Quality control... I expect more from a brand like Dynamite Baits, i've always regarded them as one of the top brands out there. I've had 2 bags of the Brown Crumb groundbait now an both the same. I have to pick out most of the bits but like I say the mix worked an absolute treat.
