Re: carp

I dont know how experienced you are but a word of warning.....

Mags are great for tips BUT remember to keep it simple. While im not against mags in anyway, they go full circle and are always coming up with the new wonder rigs when there isn't one. More of these so called "wonder rigs" catch more anglers and not fish!

It's all to easy to get snowed under with a box full of nicely tied rigs that will serve no purpose. 90% of my bottom bait fishing is done with 2 rigs, identical makeup BUT modified slightly depending on the baits im using. If you start copying all the rigs it soon becomes expensive as well because the mags will also tell you exactly what components need to be bought for each rig. If you take into account that most rigs use different components and different materials then it soon becomes expensive. You'll end up with a box full of hooklengths and components that you dont use when you finally find a "favourite" rig!

Use a simple rig and you wont go wrong and remember - a decent bait in the right place is better that 10 bads ones the wrong place!

Re: carp

Thanks for the heads up Llandudnodogfish. Havent tried Crafty Carper yet, may give it a go.
And Carpmadady, you are right cos I am still learning carp fishing, and it can be a bit overwhelming with every page in a magazine showing you differerent rigs, and programmes like Thinking Tackle going into the smallest detail for every different rig used. I am still experimenting, but like you said - I will find a couple of rigs I am happy with and stick to them, which is what I intend to do this season.

Re: carp

Keep it simple and you won't go far wrong. Some info is good and others are just a sell.

They do.... it's called marketing and their excellant at it, almost to the point that they'll make you believe there are no other companies on the market!

Korda, love them or hate them have got the market stiched up, simply by way of excellant marketing... how many other companies go into such detail with rigs and end tackle?!

It's a shame that so many people especially youngsters are in a way being brainwashed by the marketing. I kid you not that i know several instances where youngsters new to the sport BELIEVE that they wont catch anything unless they use there products because a certain Mr Fairbrass uses them and advises doing so!

Personally i stay clear of Korda, for me it's personal prefence. I've used their gear and some of it's good while other bits aren't. I found a company that im happy to use all their terminal products - hook wise i use Gardner and Fox.
