Re: What is the point? the point is mate that they are vermin , they destroy the eco system in the us these are mainly silver carp which were introduced to combat weed and are destroying rivers and lakes they need to get out as many as they can as quickly as they can; Bit of info By 2003 silver carp had spread into the Mississippi, Illinois, Ohio, and Missouri rivers and many of their tributaries in the US. They are now (August 2009) abundant in the Mississippi River watershed from Louisiana to South Dakota and Illinois, and are close to invading the Great Lakes via the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal.[8] Navigation dams on the Mississippi River seem to have slowed their advance up the Mississippi River, and until late November 2008 silver carp had not been captured north of central Iowa on the Mississippi.[9] Dams that do not have navigation locks are complete barriers to upstream natural movement of silver carp, and it is important that fishermen do not assist this movement by the unintentional use of silver carp as bait. Iam sure one of the American guys will tell more

Re: What is the point? Thanks nick, but surely there is an easier way to sort out this problem? Electrifying and netting is more humane... __________________ www.thecarpden.co.uk

Re: What is the point? They are also a serious menace to boat users, as the pressure wave of the boats causes them to launch themselves into the air and injure the passengers in the boats. I have no problems with them hunting fish in this way. I do think they could have dispatched the fish quickly though, rather than allowing it to continue suffering. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk

Re: What is the point? Huh? That wasn't one of those silver carp that jump into cajun fishermans boats... looks nothing like them, that was a common carp. The silver fish looks alot more like a grass carp. http://www.fishing-forum.info/album....pictureid=3543 That video was just of two idiots carrying out some animal cruelty...

Re: What is the point? OK I watched it. From my point of view I don't see the problem. BUT!! And it's a big BUT. If you are going to control virmin then kil the b@ggers as quick as you can. Wack! The smeg out of it with a stick or cut the things head off. These plonkers are filming it and it is obviously still alive. Kill it. Quick. Then BBQ the bl@@dy thing. Sod it I am a tree hugger but I want to shoot cormorants and otters when they are in the wrong place too. Humanely kill it, quick, that's my point. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk
