Re: Carp fishing From Across The Pond

I'm sure some of my neighbors do... I live in the part of Virginia where the stereotypes of Appalachia are born. Heck, I live 11 miles from the town of Appalachia!

The group of guys I fish with wouldn't tolerate crap like that... We're a motley-looking crew of rednecks, green-haired punks, and Mexican immigrants of varying stages of legality in the immigration status! Some of us are hunters, but we're pretty hardcore conservationists. We even like carp!

Re: Carp fishing From Across The Pond

Hi BoldBear,
So, I looked up Charlie Carp. . .I thought it was a great idea and got a good laugh out of it.

I don't know of any large Carp that have names over here, but I do know plenty of large women that do.
One of them used to fish from a kayak until she gained too much weight and got stuck in it. The fire department had to use the "Jaws of Life" to get her out!
Haven't seen her in a while. . . . .

Our state record Carp is a shade over 44 pounds however, they are much bigger in other states. A man in Michigan shot a 92 pounder with a bow.
That's a lot of gefilte fish!

Carp fishing for the most part, is at the bottom of the list around here. Largemouth Bass is the number one species to fish for. I would have to say that Trout is next.

My favorite is Bass fishing on a pond. I have an 8 foot plastic boat with an electric motor. To me, it's the most fun fishing of all, and I'm blessed to be able to fish for just about everything.
One of the best things about it, is that the Carp don't hit Bass lures!

@Moogster, in 2008 I caught a 5-pound brown trout and a 17-pound carp on a swimbait from the Roanoke River in Salem, VA while bass fishing, 12 days apart....

That's amazing. I've never heard of catching carp on anything but bait. . . .Good job Pyro.
