spring carp dilema

hey spring is starting and i am going fishing again. my first trip of the season and i have a selection of baits but to feed over the top of my hook bait should i use amino pellets or betaine pellets. i dont know how much oil there is in them so i thought i would ask. thanks guys

You dont want anything with a high oil content i would avoid all hallibut pellets at the moment. A sweet pellet like a tigger nut pellet would work well tho. I would recommend a hemp based ground bait fished with sweetcorn, maize, maggot or a few birdseed based boilies. ccmore live system works well.

why would you avoid halibut pellet??? we had 14 carp out on Saturday to halibut pellet, anything is worth a try surely?

Its more to do with the fish finding it more dificult to digest in the winter, also the cold water does not disperse the oil as well as in summer therefore not creating as much attraction.
but if you caught 14 its worth a go,
I just wouldnt use loads as feed this time of year

Hallibut paste would work well. As MT said the high oil content is not easily digestible. If you local lakes are 5ft in depth then you might get away with them but at deeper depths i would avoid a high oil bait.
