Fishing with bread

I video carp underwater to help me learn thier behaviour.

One Guy who used to fish the lake I am currently filming on did well on bread of all things (not floating, on a rig with a lead etc).
I want to video the fishes response to this forgotten bait but have never fished with it.

So, can anybody give me some tips on how to rig up bread? do I need a punch?

Thanks.
You can see some of my video's here:

Re: Fishing with bread

Think I'd use bread flake Eddy . Take a smallish piece of fresh White bread, squeeze the top half round the line just above the hook then slide it down over the shank of the hook , the fluffy half should hide the bend & point of the hook , gentily tear off any excess. Good luck .

Re: Fishing with bread

You could also use crust on a short hooklength to a plain bomb. The bait would be highly visible and it would be very interesting to see how the fish react to it just sitting off the bottom like that.

Had a look at them videos too, fascinating stuff . Please keep posting. Oh , and I do reckon Perch are dafter than roach , though big ones of either species are smarter.

Re: Fishing with bread

Thanks for all your tip's Gents.

The video'ing is going well.
The lake is fished heavily, mainly with boilies. It has suprised me with so any
designer baits going into the water how readily the fish take to such a basic bait, BREAD.

I have been pinching the bread on the eye of the hook, it's not working.
More idea's please.

The thing with bread as a bait is (if you have my advantage of watching it on the monitor) that it changes whilst in the water. it fluffs up, bits fall off, it rises, it falls, it unravels and all sorts. Strange bait.

I will put the video's up on the site for eveyone to see in a day or two.

I saw this and tried it.
I suspended the bread hair rigged at 4" off bottom and it works a treat.
See the video here http://www.underwatersecrets.co.uk/breadcapture.html

Best technique by far (so far).
