I can see your point mate, I'm just being awkward lol...

The chances are though when your double spooling on one of these MASSIVE French waters, the fish has taken 50 yards of line before your indicators make a sound, then its not a 100m dash to the rods, it's a 150m boat trip to your spool knot then another 150m to the fish...the lengths some people go to for a potential uncaught 60lb+ carp are amazing...Give me an over pressured day-ticket any day lol.

The rods are only out that far to give the thieving little bastads a challenge if they want your gear...A French favorite is tear gas in the bivvy followed by a swift kick in and a quick swipe of all your gear...

not quite sure how far you need to go with bite alarms, I have one of those cheap sets of three. Cost a tenner and have initial indicator blue LED and run LED also ajustable volume and tone...

They seem fine to me and i catch fish....

mate get yourself a set of stevie nevilles, millions of anglers and such a cult following cant be wrong,these wont let you down and if you dont like for some weird reason you will allways get your money back,just check out ebay

same here, i've had mine for nearly 10 years and never had any problems. think i've only changed the batteries two maybe 3 times!
