Re: help carp bait

very much doubt they will be in the shallows ,spend time looking for signs , they still show themselves even in winter ,
i would fish a small bag , with a balanced bait ,recasting every half hour or so

Re: help carp bait

the deeper water stays warmer longest, but the shallow water warms the quickest.....if that makes any sense.

like Nick says try the deeper water first and if the sun comes out and warms the shallows in the afternoon i'd be tempted to try there, you might catch a wanderer.also maggots are a deadly bait in winter

Re: help carp bait

You want a bait that will be easily digestable for the carp. Maggots and worm are two good baits. Don't forget good old sweetcorn can be a deadly winter bait. Also a single fluro pop up can work due to the inquisitive nature of carp.

Like sated befoe he deeper water will hold the carp at night poss during the day. Use small bags of your hook bait always watch the water for fish shows.
