Casting and settling a method feeder Hi Guys I was talking to the Bailif at a comercial carp fishery last week and he was telling me to leave the methof feeder exactly where it landed after casting and that I didn't need to have the rod at an angle. I always thought you should have it at a right angle. When the feeder lands I reel in the slcak and then try to get a bit of a bend in the rod but I think the bait is coming off and my hookbait is then nowhere near it. What do you guys do? How do you settle the feeder once you have casted to make sure it's all as it should be? Do you have your rod at an angle? Thanks in advance guys J

Re: Casting and settling a method feeder I always leave mine where it lands ,and just put a slight bend if using feeder rod , if using a carp rod i just tighten up and set my bobbins . If your moving it you will be moving the hook bait away from the feed , the hook bait should be in the pile of free/feeder feed

Re: Casting and settling a method feeder Hi Nick Cheers for the help. So, is it OK to reel in the slack line? Also, is it ok to use a audio bit alram with a method feeder or is this just wrong? Thanks John

Re: Casting and settling a method feeder Dont think you'd need to mate as your rod will let you know that a fish is on! (As long as you're using a feeder rod that is)

Re: Casting and settling a method feeder as others have said, simply leave it where it lands (unless its a dreadfull cast or simply not where you want it) then just take in the slack, but try not to pull ur lead along the bottom, then as nick said pop ur bobbins on or get a slight bend in ur feeder rod, u dont need a huge bend nate just one that will warn you of a bite/take so in this case its best to have ur rod at an angle (feeder rod) Tight Lines Mate Matt __________________ There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process.

Re: Casting and settling a method feeder Thanks Matt and PikeHunter I'll just take the slack up from now on and leave the feeder rod at a slight angle. Hoping to go at the weekend so I'll give it a try. I'm in that transition period were I think I have got it sussed because one day I'll bag up but then the next time i won't get a knock so i question if I'm actually doing it right. All the best John
