My first carp

this is my first carp, about 4.5lbs. Put up a good fight which allowed me to see how the clutch works on my reel. He was in really good condition.

i only caught 2 fish today, the other being a 2lb bream, the carp made my day though.

i have a set of cheap sprung scales that you hang your weigh net in. they said about 4.5 lbs but i dont know how accurate they are.

he put up a nice 5 minute fight

should i invest in hand held digital scales.

Mine are pretty much the same, all my fish are either either in pounds or half pounds lol. will get some more eventually but as long as they give me a rough Idea Im not bothered

Well done on the carp,

I got a pair of digi ones before summer and to be honest they are good but not necessary. I also have good set of spring scales, believe or not they are designed to weigh turkeys and they weigh to 50lbs but when you attach a weigh sling they are great for fish and are super accurate too.
