Waggler Rod from Dragon Direct

Hi all

I'm eying this rod up:

http://www.dragoncarpdirect.com/prod...ggler-Rod.html

I can't afford to pay a lot out and this seems to be a good price for a carbon rod.

Has anyone got stuff from this company recently? I read a few negative things on another forum but it was from 2007 and I guess if they were rubbish they would have folded by now. They also have 5 page adverts in the latest angling times.

Cheers

John

Re: Waggler Rod from Dragon Direct

Hi John never used them before buddy but i am thinking of picking one of the super combo deals up £50 you cant go wrong

2 Captor 12ft card rods
2 euro runner reels with front/rear drag plus bait runner
2 supersonic bite alarms

theres also one for £100 that has three off everything plus a rod pod that holds 3.

They seem to be a very good company that sell products cheap i mean just check the rrp every single item seems to be well under the half price mark i think that £50 deal should be around £300 so thats less than a quater the price

Re: Waggler Rod from Dragon Direct

One of my favourite motos in life is "Pay Cheap Pay Twice" but I was thinking that fishing is one area were they tend to ramp up the price of things and maybe these were good genuine products at a realistic price. You know what I mean. You could have a plastic tub for a pound in the pound shop but it would cost you £3 in a tackle shop.

I've ordered a brolly and a rod pod off them both £10 each. I'll see how I go with them before I buy the rod. I know I shouldn't expect a lot for a tenner but if they work well for a few sessions I might just go for the rod too.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

John

Re: Waggler Rod from Dragon Direct

i got the zebco carp set from argos for around £100, not the best kit, but got me started again as it had what i needed. just been upgrading as & when.
when i went to the tackle show at farnborough earlier this year, i was looking for a foot rest for my maver seatbox, i'd spent most of my pocket money, so had a look at the dragon carp stand, the feel & look of the foot rest told me instantly there was no way it would be up to my lard arse size, possibly ok for my toddler, but she is only 2st, not my 18 lol. further look around their stand, everything just looked cheap & tacky (& i thought my argos kit was cheap). needless to sy, the only dragon carp stuff i have is what comes free on the front of the magazines.
like has been said earlier, there is better for not much more out there

You guys have convinced me I'm going to give them a wide berth. Glad I checked with you all first.

How much should I be thinking of spending on a decent waggler rod?

Cheers

John

Re: Waggler Rod from Dragon Direct

have a look at the companies that advertise in the magazines, look out to see if the rods have any reviews to get an idea, then pop down your local tackle shop(s) & handle the rods you like if in stock, compare prices, but remember that you normally need to take p&p into account with online prices.
as for cost, i think that's down to your budget mainly, as there are good quality rods in most price ranges, my tfg rods & reels cost quite a bit more than my zebco rods & reels, but the tfg rods feel better than the zebco, yet prefer the feel of my zebco reels to my tfg reels, which is why i'd recommend looking, then trying in your local tackle shop before committing your money
