Hi, I just joined a club who own a water very close to my house that was recently targeted by poachers who were less than polite to the club members who asked them to stop stealing the fish! anyway after some new security and a cleanup operation the lake is open again but there is no one there! This is perfect for me as I dont really like a crowd and I have been pulling the silverfish out left right and centre but the carp are ellusive. I know they are there because I have seen them patroling the margins but they shy away from baits. After talking to the club chairman I have been told that they have not really been fished for for about a year and they are not used to the "outlandish" baits peolpe use. So my question is, on this small lake which supposedly houses at least one 30... how do I get it on the bank! what baits would be best and what presentation do people recomend.

| Re: Hard frustrating waters You tried fishing off the top this time of year. Also this sounds like a good opportunity to do some pre-baiting, get the fish used to your feed and when your ready go in for the kill so to speak, ![]() __________________ Species 2011.. | Re: Hard frustrating waters First of all i would watch the water to see where they patrol , When you have found their routes i would them introduce a particle mix with crushed boilies ,corn .maggots .chopped worms i would keep checking the bait to see if it goes ,then keep topping up with more bait , Do this for a couple of weeks then introduce a hook bait , Try natural baits ,/corn /worm on a float |

Re: Hard frustrating waters I have had some success with bloodworm boilies where fish are more used to the natural baits. __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards.

Re: Hard frustrating waters they are allowing floating baits at present (although they have threatened to ban them if they start to get in other anglers way) so i figure i can take a couple of rolls down with me and go and see if i can get something sucking at the surface. Bloosworm boilies... good shout. i guess they would be eating them in the lake so maybe they would be attracted to the smell and taste. Ill give them a go. Thanks

Re: Hard frustrating waters went down at the weekend and there were loads cruising round so at least i know the lakes well stocked even if they arent the biggest fish in the world (the bailif said they have had them out to 17 lbs but there have been sightings of something much bigger... we shall see) I tried some back to basics free line floating bread and finaly had 1 out the water! will try some longer session fishing under the water this bank holiday. thanks for the advice.
