Re: Maver abyss ledger rod help?

Maver Abyss Multi Tip 12ft Feeder rod A1360
- All round feeder fishing rod
- Perfect for Carp, bream and Chub
- Supplied with 3 quiver tips
- Single leg SIC guides
- Graphite screw reel fitting
- Casting weight 85g
- Lines 3lb to 8lb
- Length 12ft 3.6m
- Weight 216g

this is a quote from the maver site.

I would guess it is a test curve of about 1.5 lb if it has a max line of 8lb

I hope that helps

Re: Maver abyss ledger rod help?

When you say "how many lb it will take" do you mean the weight of fish you can catch with it.

the line maximum strength of 8Lb will mean the rod can take that sort of load without snapping, the line will break first.

the test curve , is the weight to bend the rod to 90 degrees, it is usually used for carp rods and is not the breaking point.

the max casting weight of 85grams will tell you how much you can normally cast without smashing the tip.

To be honest, on 8lb line I have caught 20lb plus fish, but I do use a light drag and play fish, not just haul them in.

if you go and use 15lb carp line and chuck out 4 oz leads and bully fish you will damage this sort of rod.

As a ledger rod, in a good river this will easily bring in a 15lb barbel.

thankyou mate, you've helped alot. I have a bait runner and I like to play fish so I might try this tomorrow on my local pond with 6lb line on.
