carp on the quiver hey guys, i have fishing for carp using the quiver rod with a 2 ounce tip and a 25-30gr feeder, but the problem is i get loads of little knocks on the rod tip where it just wobbles, now i know these are just fish moving the feeder but none of these wobbles turns into a bite. and i was just wondering what could the posible reasons for this be. thanks.

Re: carp on the quiver It is probably the fish nibbling at your bait, then you know it's a bite when the tip starts going mad, this is when the fish has your whole bait in its mouth. Maybe I haven't understood you question properly though...

Re: carp on the quiver Could be line knocks, dunno what you mean by wobble mate ;-( i love the quiver, best way to fish , oh and if your crap like me it could be your rod touching somthing, (like ur chair) ive made that mistake on a few occasions! ;-(

Re: carp on the quiver How far is the feeder from your hook?

Re: carp on the quiver on a light quiver it could just be carp "fanning" the bait and rolling the feeder. what shape of feeder are you using? could it be rolling in the water or is it a good solid block feeder? __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards.

Re: carp on the quiver Hi mate, simply fish the method with a short hooklength (about 4 inches) maybe use the preston flat method & mould mate, wont be moving/rolling about then, hope Ive helped a lil ;-)

Re: carp on the quiver hi i am using a open end cage type feeder around 30 grams. with the feeder about a foot away from the hook. i have used the preston method feeder before, i was also wondering when u use the preston method feeder should u put the hook and hooklink in the feeder or have it outside. thanks

Re: carp on the quiver Hi mate, its really up to you, but its primarily designed for the hook bait to be placed inside (put your hook & chosen bait in the mould before you fill it up with mix) this works great with corn etc, but bigger baits you will struggle with, if this is the case simply make your mould then 'tap in' your hook/bait on the outside of the loaded feeder, this stops you having a tangle on the cast, or of course you can fether you line on the cast, you can still get a tangle of course but its very rare, hope this helps mate.
