Re: Help, Fishing Advice For Local Pool

looks nice ok first of all if its a silty bottom method might not be a good idea as the silt hides the bait when it settles try a waggler set up using hallibut pellets on a hair rig or you can use a rubber band and atach it your hook get some ground bait with a high ammount of fish attracters in it hemp corn castors and make up balls (golf ball size )throw in where you want to fish and cast out over it hope fully the attracters will bring in the fish and then they will spot your bait let me know how you get on cheers ,tight lines

Re: Help, Fishing Advice For Local Pool

Get down your local tackle dealers. Bog standard advise from me and it is worth it's weight in gold. Great to see what looks like some decent fishing in the Brum area too. Tight lines!

Re: Help, Fishing Advice For Local Pool

Also, in the warmer months, most of the carp spend little time on the bottom, there are of course exceptions but certainly when it's warm/hot most carp will be in the upper half layers of water. There are various ways you can get your baits to them up there and I won't bore you with them all, the obvious is to fish on the surface with floating baits either on free line or on a float. You could also use a Zig rig (difficult though if the water is more than about 8ft deep) where you hold the line on the bottom with a weight but have say 5ft of line to hook (for 6 foot depth) with a pop up/floating bait so the bait is presented roughly a foot from the surface.... if that makes sense..... if you want to keep it simpler, just float fish a non floating bait to about just 2 feet in depth.

I normally fish for Carp with just 2 rods, in the summer months I have one rod fishing the bottom and the other either on the surface or 1 - 2 feet below surface and I tend to get 2 or 3 times more bites off the surface tactics..... but maybe that is just particular to the couple of Carp waters I fish.... not sure.

Re: Help, Fishing Advice For Local Pool

Ok try a pop-up if bottom is dirty. But keep going down feeding the swim you want to fish or have located fish in regularly with a bait your confident with do this for around 5 days-14 days then you come and be quiet and set-up with that bait there and edge ur bets that way. A differnt way to look at it is that there may not be many fish in there or the fish may be VERY clever.
