| Re: New Feeder rod advice. Probably the reason you aren't getting many replies is because within your budget of £30 there is not much to choose from and very little difference between the rods you could buy anyway. The trouble is that £30 isn't going to get you a good rod and that pretty much all rods at that price range are going to have compromises both in terms of durability, reliability and usability. You can buy feeder rods that are capable of landing small to medium size Carp in your price range BUT that's only because they have no subtlety to them whatsoever and whilst they could bring in a 8lb Carp they will probably struggle to even detect bites from shy Roach. I can't really recommend any of the following rods but if I were on your budget then these would be some that I would look at. If you can increase your budget a little then I'd look at: Shakespeare Mach 2 12' Light/Medium Feeder Rod £44.95. I'd go for the Light/Medium version if I wanted to target silver fish and smaller tench and carp and the Medium/Heavy version for bigger silver fish, tench and small carp. If £30 is the limit of your budget then I'd check out: Leeda Carp Match 12' 2 Piece Feeder Rod £29.75. I imagine this will come with a 2oz, 3oz and 4oz tips which would make it fine for most species but it may struggle casting heavier feeders. Leeda Carp Match Feeder Rods £29.75. This sounds almost identical to the previous rod. I imagine though that it has a stiffer action to deal with Carp but that might make it harder to set the hook for smaller silver fish as too stiff an action will bump smaller fish Ron Thompson Godfather 12' Feeder Rod £24.99. This sounds pretty much identical to the last rod If you really only want to target silver fish with the odd bonus larger fish then: Daiwa Sweepfire Feeder 12ft £31.49. With a 1oz and 2oz tip it's primarily aimed at silver fish but you will be able to land silver fish and smaller carp to 8-10lb HTH __________________ I've now added a fishing blog to my website Here |
