| Re: Marker float help yes a bait boat personally i use a spod rod for a marker rod as the stiffer tip gives a better indication of the contours of the lake bottom it is also better with braid (no stretch) set up is simple thread the lead on the line , use a large ring with a link as it helps it slide up the line , then a bead , i then use a six inch length of tube with a piece of rubber attached to it as a boom you can buy leads mate up like this . then a bead , then the float tied to the main line when you cast out tighten the lead to the float , i have marked on my rod lines at 6in and 12in ( this is measured from the spool ) let line out slowly untill the float pops up ,counting the depth , for finding contours you can do it by using just a lead , as you pull it across the lake bed you will feel the different contours of the bed ,eg weed , bars etc there are bound to be some video,s on you tube ![]() |
