Re: how do i set a feeder rod up please help!!

I think it depends on a few things, feeder type, venue and fish. For Rivers using a barbel cage feeder I use a long hooklength ( 18" to 2 ft) But for carp fishing in lakes and ponds I would use a shorter hook length , around 6 to 8 inches. Im still learning myself and Im sure someone one here will be able to give you more details for other fish

You can achieve this set up without them but I would advise on investing in some. With out a bead your feeder swivel will be contantly battering your hook link swivel and cause it to become weak.
