| Re: Rod position question "when i was todber last week there was a guy just along from us on the opposite bank...he had several runs came running out of his bivvy and struck the rod like a madman...." I think its a confidence thing, I tend to strike just to make sure the hook is secure but I should have more faith in my rigs. I suppose its something you get with experience. __________________ Species 2011.. Common carp,Mirror carp,Pike,Rudd,Dace,Eel,Bream,Perch,Roach,Barbel, Chub |

| Re: Rod position question I semi strike lol well I'll explain. If line is coming off then all i do ispit my finger on the spool lightly and lift into it. This means I'm putting pressure on the hook to maybe allow it penetrate better but as I'm only using my finger line can still come of. I only do this for a split second ad I lift into the fish. You always want a tight line when playing a fish so you want to slow the line coming of the spool as you lift into it. The rigs we tend to use do self hook though as when you fish locked up close to snags for example the rod tends to get bent right round. This I belive shows that they to a certain extent hook themselves. (hopefully) |
