| Re: Fishing with gammon steak Unsure about gammon steak but nearby me on the river dart all the children use bacon to catch crabs at this one special spot... I have caught bass mullet and eels on bacon here and the mullet and eels will eat nothing but bacon .. Probably more to do with how much of the stuff gets thrown in day in day out but as a bait it works for mullet so I have no doubt that carp wil take it __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think! |

| Re: Fishing with gammon steak Well I did it, fished with gammon. Wiilow Park, Ash I start at 7.30am Gammon on the float a size 16 hook bit of gammon the size of a 5p & Gammon on the feeder size 10 hook bit of gammon the size of the 10p By 9am Nothing not a bite!!! Change to pellets. 2mm on the float 6mm on the feeder and I did well 9 Bream 4 Tench and 4 Carp the best was 7lbs. This went on till around 12.30 then it went dead. So at 2.30 I went back to the gammon same set up as before. This time 8lb Carp on the feeder & 2 Carp on the float both around 4lbs at 4pm had to go but im sure I would have got more fish. So gammon was ok, not fisrt thing (not sure why?) but it did a job. And the best thing about it was that I knew my bait unlike some other meats would not fall off the hook.. I will use it again. ![]() |
