Mattesons smoked pork sausage is on offer in tesco at the minute..gotta be worth a try

Bit of a update on the gammon.

Gold Valley Aldershot Syndicate Lake 13-07-10

I started at 6.30am fishing with pellet had a 9lb carp and 6 others around 6/7lbs. About 12pm I went to the gammon on the float and got myself a new P.B of 13.5lb. Close in bit of gammon the size of a 5p size 16 hook.

Cooked gammon is now my no1 choice of any meat bait!!

good work, the bait seems to have cut out the smaller fish and allowed you to focus on the carp, nice!
Goes to show you can catch on just about anything, I think how you cook the steak and the extra flavourings you add in will affect how effective the bait is.

I have used pepperami as a carp bait with a lot of success. It is spicy and oily, probably gives a good scent trail, tough and durable on the hair, and comes in an easy package that makes a good sized bait.

I just slice off a pellet sized piece and stab through the skin a couple of times.

Can be a killer bait on a cold night.
