What Species of Carp is This?

I spent the day fishing the first of my new clubs waters and had a superb day. Didn't catch an awful lot but saw that there is bags of potential in this water with some really lovely fishing in a great location.

Apart from loosing what was probably a personal best (smashed 10lb line like it was cotton) I did bring in a few small Common Carp (the biggest only being 5lb) but then I caught this and I'm not sure what species of Carp it is.

(Apologies for the rubbish photo, I only had my iPhone with me.)

All the other Common Carp are much lighter in colour whereas this Carp was a deep bronze and it was also longer than the other Common's. I was chatting to the bailiffs earlier in the day but was only half listening as my float kept going under, but I think they said that there were Wild Carp in the lake but I can't be certain they said this. Having never caught a Wild Carp before I don't know what to look for, could this be one?

Re: What Species of Carp is This?

Wohoo!

In one day I caught my first fish of the season, my first fish with my new club, my first fish at a new lake, my first fish on a new rod, my first fish on a new real, my first fish on a new bait and my first Wild Carp.

I've had worse days

Re: What Species of Carp is This?

That was the weird thing, I remember now the bailiffs saying that the Wildies fought like hell ("they keep fighting in the net") but this one came in like a mouse and, if it were possible, actually looked to have a shocked expression on it's face . I hooked it only about 10ft out in 3ft of water on pellet and it was in the net 10 seconds later. Admittedly it was only a small fish but not the 'warrior' I was led to believe
