Re: Float fishing for carp

U should try surface fishing this time of year if the weather permits, using bread or dog biscuits. Use either a bubble float or controller float with a 3-4 foot hook link with your bait on a hair rig. your link should float to give good presentation. you can use a smidging of Vaseline to do this or certain types or line/braid. Before you do any of this tho try an find where the fish are surfacing and get them feeding with some freebies of your chosen bait.

Re: Float fishing for carp

no surface fishing aloud. what's the closest to the float you could get with your hook bait under the water without the fish knowing its a setup??? or is there a method?

Re: Float fishing for carp

Christ ! think id just change venues lol. Just try a normal controller float set up with some sweet corn as a hook bait. if the carp are in the upper layers of the water then use a short hook link 1-2 feet. keep trickling in sweet-corn around your float little and often and hopefully you will get a run . Or you could just use a normal float set up but just scale up, hooks line ,bait ect Im sure there are guys on here who can give you much better advice but thats just what Id do

Re: Float fishing for carp

One trick worth trying in shallow water is to fire loose feed high up so it splashs as it hits the water. This may drag carp in as they are curious creatures. Feed for about 15-30 mins then have a go. If you get no bites it didn't work so a move might be in order.
