Re: ok carp on float Use a Controller float, with 12lb flurocarbon with a artifical dog biscuit on then you know your bait cant fall off. I would hair it if there are some big fish are in there as bigger carp can realise that there is a hook through the biscuit and can be put off and wreck the whole entire session. Jake

Re: ok carp on float Jake435 is spot on about hair rigging it and even more so because I've started using them lately too and the reassurance that you can welly out a bait knowing it is not coming off is great. If you hook them directly I find that the fish can take the biscuit but that it then masks the hook and you are forever pulling it out of their mouths. personally I add a bait band to the end of the rig and put one real one on two so I have one real and one artificial. That way if the real one stays on I have two baits one of which smells right. If it flies off then I still have the aritifical. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: ok carp on float Fish on the lift method mate instructions on how to do it here I would only use 10lb line max , more than likely 8lb LIFT METHOD

Re: ok carp on float When I am using the float for Carp of a similar size on our local estate lake I use the lift method using a straight peacock waggler with 8lb to 10lb line max and fish 2 or 3ft over depth and slightly overshotted with a couple of shot bunched tightly together a few inches from the hook. If the fish are smaller (5lb to 8lb max) and away from Pads I sometimes use 6lb line. Don't overshot by too much, the ammount of wind drag is the deciding factor as to how much shot I will use although I usually only use this method when there is not too strong a breeze blowing. After casting and putting my rod in its rests I gently wind in until the float cocks to the right depth (only a small amount of float showing). the bite is usually a straight zoom away or a rise in the water followed by a zoom away. Both hook mounted and hair rigged baits work fine with this rig for Carp. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)

Re: ok carp on float You don't want to be too over depth, about 18" overdepth in 4 or 5ft of water is about right. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)
