When to fish Slack lines/tight lines?

Hi guys
could some explain when and why you would fish using the two techniques?

And also expalain how to properly fish slack lines?
I got shown but don't think it's really slack as when I try I find the bobbin just tightens the line to the lead!
Not sure some people say cast leave rod to let line sink others say sink it then let more off the spool?
Would just like to know so I can find my own way :)

I use 12lb daiwa sensor/gr60 line would this be a problems?

CheerS

Hello alec, for slack line fishing you might want to think about a heavy line like X-line. To my experience it sinks like a stone and you can still use light weight bobbins. It doesn't cast as good as mono but you get the advantage of it being fluorocarbon which is invisible underwater.

Re: When to fish Slack lines/tight lines?

I thought someone was going to say that the problem is the lake fishing needs quite a big chuck I'm worried about losing distance.

If using something like x line how do you go about fishing slacklines?

If you let x line settle for a few minutes after the cast it will be hugging the bottom of the lake, clip on some light bobbins then happy days. What distance are you fishing?

Cast out , wait till lead hit bottom . put rod on rest , wait a few mins , then keep pulling line off the spool, you can never be too slack and it may take up to 30 mins for the line to be presented on the lake bed slack,
Then when happy put light weight bobbins on , i always have mine resting on the floor , turn alarm on

Re: When to fish Slack lines/tight lines?

I used to use one rod with a slack line when I was fishing on the river medway, for the very rare medway carp. This was due to boat activity. I found no difficulty when the fish took the baits with registration, no deep hooked fish either.

Only fish slack lines away from any snags.

Re: When to fish Slack lines/tight lines?

So you don't have to put rod tip under water to start to sink it?
Does it sink well enough in the margins you could play a fish over the top.
Example
2 rods out and then you get a bite on one?
Could you still use backleads with slack lines or should you not need to?

Cheers guys
