| Weed fishing Hi guys was wondering if you can help. Would you guys ever fish into weed? I was thinking it would be a good place to fish due to natural supplies of food and oxygen during daylight/summer! But how would one approach it? Can you fish on top off it? You know for instance blanket weed that lays heavy on the bottom. I imagine the lead will go threw it and the hooklength would sit funny. So does that mean fishing it's no no? Just wondering how to approach it has think would give a reek edge.     |

| Re: Weed fishing Ok thanks is the idea of the lead being at the end of your mainline that the weight of it pushes the weed down? Would you put a small stick mix on this? Or a small bag of freebies? Also is a chod rig just a helicopter rig with a pop up presentation? |

| Re: Weed fishing Sorry I can't help further, it's not my really my specialist area, I am more of a pike fisherman. | Re: Weed fishing Would you say this is the best way to present bait on weed beds? As a friend if mine says a normal bottom bait rig with a pva mesh bag on to stop it sinking to the bottom but I think it will eventually sink to the bottom as fish waft atoms it etc... The beads that are placed on the mainline or leader can they be placed further away than are shown in your pic? If so what makes you decide where to sit them on the rig? |

| Re: Weed fishing depth of weed , or the depth where i can see the fish patrolling , the beads move to allow this using a pva mesh bag ,how do you know what presentation you have ? It may be totally masked by weed . i also tie my lead on with very light line so if the fish gets caught in the weed it will lose the lead and not tether the fish . try using pva wafers/rig foam on the hook this will keep the hook out of the weed until they dissolve ,then the pop up bait will lift it above. you can not just cast a bag out ,you need to spend time with a marker rod ,or just a lead so you know whats out there |

| Re: Weed fishing The further away the beads are from the lead the deeper the weed really? Do you just tie a leader knot onto the mainline and then to the lead? |

| Re: Weed fishing I don't fish a leader . 15lb straight through . heavey tubing or pin the line down with lead putty..swivel at end of line to which i tie a lead to with 3/4 lb line ,so the lead can be lost if necessary. yes the further the beads are from the lead the further the bait will rise. i do not use lead core as the beads will not slide off the core and result in a death rig |
