hemp tricks

For that extra edge

Hot Hemp: During the preparation stage, add dried crushed chillie flakes to the hempseed prior to adding the water. Add a heaped teaspoonful for every kilo – dry weight – of seed. Cover with water and soak for 12-24 hours, then bring the seed to the boil in the water in which it has been soaking. Simmer until the seed starts to split then drain off the water and use straight away. It can also be stored in the freezer if required.

Smelly Hemp: Prepare the hempseed as normal by simmering until the husks split open showing their white insides (this takes between 40-45 minutes). Once it is ready drain off all the water and turn the still-hot seed into a large bucket. Quickly add 24 drops of Black Pepper Essential Oil and 12 drops of N-Butyric acid. Immediately seal the bucket and shake it well so that each seed receives a coating of the two attractors. NB. Hold the lid on tight while you do this! When the hemp has cooled it is ready to be used or stored. Be warned…it stinks summat awful!

Easy Hemp: Easy Hemp: ¾ fill a good quality freezer box with hempseed. Add boiling water so that the seeds are just covered and replace the lid, ensuring that it is a good seal. Leave the hempseed to steep in the boiled water for 24 hours and it will be ready to use. Just prior to use, add two tablespoons of salt. .

Blended Hemp: Mix together equal amounts of Red Band Pigeon Conditioner, Hempseed and Mini-Maize. Add boiling water and soak the blend for 24 hours. Then place is a suitable saucepan or boiler and bring to the boil. Simmer until the hempseed is ready, by which time the Red Band and mini-maize will have become very soft as they will absorb much of the boiling water. The blend is now ready to use.

Re: hemp tricks

In respect of chilli hemp. There are 5 domesticated types of chilli, each has its own differnt flavours. If poss, ie you have an exotic super market try to get different tyoes. The flavours are quite different.
Oh and be careful.

That's such a good idea nice one especialy as for pre made stiff it's very expensive. Where is the best place to it in bulk?
Would you ever use hemp as your hook bait? How would you do it?

Re: hemp tricks

You can use hemp as a hook bait but you need to be fishing with a small hook something around the 22 or 24 size. you place the hook in between the split on the hemp, but there are some plastic hemp baits out there now and they can be used along with the real hemp. Fishing hemp on the hook is a good way of catching roach on the river in the winter. normally you would feed hemp and fish Tares as they are bigger and alot easier to hook.

Found this video on youtube about hemp and tares http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aKab...eature=related

Re: hemp tricks

I use an animal feed store.
Alec, I think there is a farm feed store, just south of Blindley Heath on the A22 which should be a short drive for you. I used to get trout pellets there, dirt cheap.

Re: hemp tricks

Buy mine from the local pet superstore for about 16 a 15KG bag. May be able to get it cheaper elsewhere but this place is not far away . I split it in half with a mate of mine and now have the top section of the beer and bait fridge freezer full of the stuff. Beats paying £6 a KG for some prepacked flavoured stuff hands down. Good tips there on preparing it though as already mentioned watch it with them chillies.

i add some ground bait or method mix to dry it out when im using it in pva or if you dont want added smells and flavours i used plain carp pellets to soak up the moister

when fishing a hard water near me i use hemp spodded and a 14mm ball of hemp in armour mesh on my hair im sure this can be altered to other fishing styles
