Chub rods tc?

Hi guys
I want to buy some slighty better Rods I currently use some jrc things I got 3 for 30 and some of the eyes are in a bad way.

I'm thinking of some chub outkasts at 2.75tc are hey good for playing a fish and how far can they cast I'm I'm average.

I will be using shimano ultegra xta 12000 with them will they be ok?

Thanks guys

Re: Chub rods tc?

2.75 TC rods will be fine for most carp as long as you aren't going for 40lb+ fish. Even dropping to 2.5lb TC would give you a better fight and feel more 'connected' to the fish. I'm going through the same dilemma at the moment as I have Fox Warrior XT 3lb TC rods and will be buying some 2.5lb TC rods soon for some more fun in playing the carp to the bank. As far as your reels go, they'd be fine but for a more balanced setup I'd be more inclined to use 8000 or even 6000 sized reels. By the way Chub gear is great so I would imagine that their rods are equally as good. Hope this helps.

Re: Chub rods tc?

Depends on
A , size of cast needed
B size of fish .
No need for big tc rods if your only casting 50 yds
you have big reels so the rods need to balance them .I use the same reels

I have caught fish to 50lb plus on 2lb tc rods , i have also caught single figure fish on 3.5 tc rods ,,

As for chub rods they are a good rod for the money

Re: Chub rods tc?

Well prob max cast of about 100 yds

I'm thinking 3lb tc rods? The problem is I also fish small venues where I only chuck about 30yds!
Will I better getting some smaller tc rods and then higher ones at a later date?
The reels I have then nick. Are they no good short/mid range? Why is this? I'm new to fishing so just asking.

Re: Chub rods tc?

reels are big pits with a bait runner fitted to the spool good for all types mate ,
i would buy 2.75 mate as these are more of a all round rod . plus you will not be over loading them if you fish small bags

Re: Chub rods tc?

Ye I love the reels I know they have a big capacity but I thought they would be fine close range if need be. Would 2.75tc be an ok balance with my reels guys?

Many thanks

Re: Chub rods tc?

sorry what's that mean? A chub 2.75 tc rod should be alright with my reels shouldn't it? I never really understand how you tell if a rod and reel is balanced

Re: Chub rods tc?

Different rod makers use different thickness of blank to make the rods with , for a reel of that size you dont want a rod as thin as a pin.

nice balance

if you can bend the rod this much then perhaps you should be into a different sport than angling

i have chub outcasts 2.75tc and i use the for everything they will hold anything your ever likely to catch!

just too add i have a pair of the chub outcast spod rods too which have now replaced my beachcasters for most of my light beach work! can launch a 4oz lead on them miles!
