Carping on match rod Hi, was just wondering what size carp you would be able to land on a 9ft match rod?

Re: Carping on match rod Ive landed carp to 13 1/2lb on a 12ft match rod. Would not recomend carp over 10lb. Would be better of with a power match or barbel rod for over 10lb.

Re: Carping on match rod i've had a 10.2lb bream on a match rod fishing 2lb mainline and 1lb bottom you'd be surpised what u can get away with if the tackle is balanced right to the rod action!

Re: Carping on match rod i have landed carp upto 13lb on an old argos kingfisher 10ft float rod with 6lb mainline but then i have also lost fish that where much smalller. you need to match your rod and set up to the venue. lots of snags, heavyer gear. no snags you can get away with lighter.

Re: Carping on match rod Same as Dave i've fluked a 18 1/2lb mirror on 2.7lb bottom & 4 lb main line took me 3/4's of an hour to get it in & if it had made any decent lunges i'd of lost it for sure, that was from whelford pools in Gloucestershire whilst I was diddler fishing many moons ago....wouldn't recommend it though __________________ So many types of fishing ... so little free time...
